paintings are a metaphor for my spirit that seeks to understand the magic of inner worlds. There, where the veils get pulled back, a collage of image and dialogue is revealed. In the studio, those sensibilities merge with the materials. Venetian Plaster has magical qualities when mixed with pure pigment. Color bleeds into white and images form that may prove quite different from the original inspiration. Fabric, torn text, paint and pastels. Pattern and shapes emerge and from there the journey begins. The experience of layering texture and color like that of old frescos is alchemy; something is hidden and something is revealed–there is mystery there. My aim is to produce a narrative through color and imagery that pierces the psyche and speaks to theheart of the viewer.
